Teenagers Charged in Copenhagen Grenade Case Amid Rising Middle East Tensions
Two Swedish teenagers have been charged in Denmark with possessing five hand grenades and using two of them near Israel's embassy in Copenhagen. No injuries were reported. Authorities are investigating the target of the blasts, occurring amidst heightened Middle East tensions and rising organized crime concerns in Sweden.
In a Danish court on Thursday, two Swedish teenagers faced charges related to the possession of five hand grenades and the detonation of two on a rooftop near Israel's embassy in Copenhagen. The prosecutor stated that the explosions, which occurred early Wednesday, caused damage but no injuries.
The teenagers, aged 16 and 19, were intercepted at Copenhagen's main railway station and questioned in court, where authorities imposed a ban on releasing their identities. A third individual, aged 19, was also detained and later released after being questioned by police.
The blasts come during escalating Middle East tensions and a crackdown on organized crime in Europe. Danish police are investigating whether the embassy was the target. More Swedes have been charged in Denmark this year with serious crimes, drawing attention to security issues linked to Iranian services and organized criminal networks.
