Security forces have uncovered a massive cache of explosives in Senam village, located in Manipur's Tengnoupal district, police announced on Wednesday.

Amidst escalated violence due to ethnic clashes since May 2023, the recent drone attacks by militants heightened tensions. The police statement detailed the recovery: 10 big improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 11 medium-sized IEDs, 42 country-made grenades, seven No.36 hand grenades, two Chinese grenades, and 34 petrol bombs.

Additionally, authorities recovered one country-made Lathode gun, a rifle, a pistol, two Pompi guns, and detonators. Over 200 people have been killed, and thousands have been displaced in the conflict between the Imphal Valley-based Meiteis and the hill-dwelling Kukis since May last year.
