Climate activist Soman Wangchuk and 170 other Ladakhis have been under police detention for the past two days for allegedly violating prohibitory orders, as per an official statement on Wednesday. The group was ultimately taken to Rajghat.

Leading the 'Delhi Chalo Padyatra,' Wangchuk went on an indefinite fast after his detention by Delhi Police on Monday. Organized by the Leh Apex Body with the Kargil Democratic Alliance, the 'padyatra' aims to demand statehood for Ladakh and its inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. This protest has been ongoing for the past four years.

The marchers commenced their journey from Leh a month ago and were detained at various police stations on the outskirts of Delhi on Monday night. They were intercepted at the city's Singhu Border while en route to Rajghat.
