French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday voiced his support for the European Commission's proposal regarding tariffs on Chinese electric vehicle imports. Confirming recent Reuters reports, Macron stated that France would back this policy in an upcoming vote on Friday.

"I do support the (EU) Commission on electric vehicles," Macron announced during a keynote speech in Berlin. He stressed that Europe must take measures to defend its domestic industries against external competition.
