In a recent address during Gandhi Jayanti celebrations in Kokrajhar, Pramod Boro, chief executive member of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) in Assam, underscored the administration's zero-tolerance policy against peace-threatening elements.
The BTR, an autonomous body under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution for Bodo-dominated areas, has been actively focusing on not just infrastructure development but also environmental preservation. Boro emphasized that violence leads to destruction, echoing Gandhian principles of non-violence and harmony.
Highlighting the region's progress towards lasting peace, Boro announced the 'Dr Bashi Ram Bodo Doctoral Fellowship Programme,' supporting 50 PhD candidates with fellowships. Additionally, a new initiative offers free personal accident policies to casual employees, recognizing their critical role in the region.
