Customs authorities have seized 26 iPhone 16 Pro Max devices hidden inside a woman's vanity bag at an international airport. The passenger, arriving from Hong Kong, was intercepted, and the phones were found wrapped in tissue papers, according to a Customs department statement released on Wednesday.
Although the woman has not been arrested, an investigation is currently underway to determine if this incident is an isolated case or part of a more extensive smuggling syndicate involved in high-end electronic goods trafficking.
The seized iPhones have been confiscated under section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962. The Customs department has valued the total tariff of the seized iPhones at approximately Rs 30,66,328, noting that the market price in India exceeds Rs 37 lakh. Authorities continue to enforce regulations on the import of high-value electronics.
