Anurag Jain, the newly-appointed chief secretary of Madhya Pradesh, is set to officially assume his office on Thursday, according to senior officials.
The appointment order, issued late Monday night, was initially expected to take effect on Tuesday but was deferred due to the ongoing 'Shradh' period, which concludes on Wednesday, sources indicate.
Jain, who will be the 35th chief secretary, was chosen by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, making large-scale reshuffling at the secretariat unnecessary. He succeeds Veera Rana and will serve until August 31 next year. His comprehensive experience includes roles as secretary in the Union ministry of road transport and highways, joint secretary in the Prime Minister's Office, and several key positions in Madhya Pradesh, including two terms as secretary to former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
