Prime Minister Michel Barnier has called for improved border control in France, stating that current immigration policies are unsatisfactory. This announcement came during a keynote speech to parliament on Tuesday.
Barnier noted that France plans to follow Germany's recent reintroduction of temporary border checks, especially against irregular migration and cross-border crime. The German initiative, which began in September, includes checks at its frontiers with France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
Despite aligning with EU rules, Barnier emphasized that France's approach must evolve to effectively handle these issues.
