The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday accepted a supplementary affidavit from the plaintiff in the ongoing Gyanvapi mosque and Kashi Vishwanath temple case. The court set October 22 as the deadline for the Muslim side to file its response.

This development comes after plaintiff Rakhi Singh filed an affidavit citing the necessity for a scientific survey of the protected area. The initial request for this survey was denied by the Varanasi district judge in an October 21 order.

The court was hearing a civil revision petition challenging the Varanasi judge's order, with arguments suggesting that the survey, excluding the shivling, is essential for a just resolution. The ASI has already conducted a preliminary survey and submitted its report.
