The Supreme Court has temporarily suspended the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the alleged adulteration of Tirupati laddus with animal fats, as the case is now sub-judice.
According to Andhra Pradesh DGP Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, the SIT had been investigating the procurement and sampling processes related to the laddus.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had set up the SIT, but recent Supreme Court orders demand a reconsideration of whether the probe should be carried out by the state-appointed team or an independent agency.
