Petitions were filed in the Delhi High Court on Tuesday against the detention of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and several others at the Delhi border.

A habeas corpus petition was mentioned before a bench of Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela for listing on October 3 by a lawyer for Wangchuk's 'next friend'.

The court agreed to list it on that day if the plea is in order, saying that it has already allowed a request for listing in another petition concerning the detention.

Two other writ petitions, filed by social activist Azad and lawyer Mustafa Haji, challenge the Delhi Police's order prohibiting assembly and protests from September 30 to October 5.

The petitions seek the release of those detained and permission for peaceful entry into Delhi to raise concerns.

Around 120 people from Ladakh, including Wangchuk, have allegedly been detained while marching to demand sixth schedule status for Ladakh.

The sixth schedule pertains to the administration of tribal areas in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram.

Azad claims the detainees have been held since September 30 without legal recourse.

Haji's plea describes the peaceful journey through several states, deeming the Delhi Police's prohibition order baseless.

The march, organized by the Leh Apex Body and the Kargil Democratic Alliance, seeks statehood for Ladakh, inclusion under the Sixth Schedule, early recruitment, a public service commission, and separate Lok Sabha seats for Leh and Kargil.
