The hearing in a defamation case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at the MP-MLA court in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was postponed once more on Tuesday. This time, the delay was because the plaintiff's lawyer was unwell.
The court has rescheduled the hearing to October 9. Gandhi's attorney, Kashi Prasad Shukla, clarified that the postponement was due to the ill health of Santosh Kumar Pandey, who represents the plaintiff and local BJP leader Vijay Mishra.
The case, which has been ongoing since August 2018, stems from alleged defamatory remarks made by Gandhi in the 2018 Karnataka elections against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Despite multiple delays, Gandhi appeared in court on July 26 and stated that the case was motivated by a desire for cheap publicity.
