Sleuths from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched simultaneous raids on 12 locations across West Bengal, including one in Kolkata, on Tuesday. These locations belonged to individuals suspected of being linked to Maoists, an official source revealed.

The raids were ongoing in areas such as Netaji Nagar, Panihati, Barrackpore, Sodepur, Asansol, among others, stemming from allegations that two women and their associates had connections with Maoists. According to the source, these women had allegedly embezzled funds sent to them for the purpose of expanding Maoist networks in eastern India.

Several documents were seized during these raids as part of the effort to ascertain the extent of involvement of these individuals in the Maoist organisation. The source added that the investigation aims to uncover the exact roles played by the suspects in the operation.
