Man Accused of Attack at Police Station Injures Another Patient in Hospital
A 42-year-old man named Babasaheb Sonawane, initially accused of attacking a woman constable at a police station in Maharashtra's Thane district, allegedly wounded another patient with a metal chair while undergoing treatment at a hospital. A 42-year-old man, Babasaheb Sonawane, accused of attacking a woman constable at a police station, allegedly attacked another person after being taken to a hospital in Maharashtra's Thane district, police reported on Tuesday.
Sonawane had slashed his neck before arriving at Vitthalwadi police station on September 26, where he allegedly attacked a woman constable with a blade, according to an official statement.
Both the constable and Sonawane were rushed to a hospital, and a case was filed against him under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 109 (attempt to murder), 121(2) (voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from duty), and 351(3) (criminal intimidation).
While undergoing treatment on September 28, Sonawane reportedly flung a metal chair at another patient on an adjacent bed, causing severe injuries including forehead, jaw, nose injuries, and the loss of two teeth, according to officials from Central police station in Ulhasnagar.
An FIR was registered on Sunday against Sonawane under BNS section 118(2) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), police added.
