Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, on Tuesday condemned the detention of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and other Ladakhis, labeling it as 'unacceptable'. Prime Minister Narendra Modi must heed Ladakh's demands, said Gandhi.
Around 120 individuals from Ladakh, including Wangchuk, who had marched to the national capital seeking Sixth Schedule status for the Union Territory, were detained by Delhi Police at the border.
The former Congress chief questioned the detention of elderly citizens standing up for Ladakh's future, likening it to the farmers' protest and warning that such actions will not stand. Wangchuk, in an Instagram post, documented heavy police presence and their detainment.
