In a significant disciplinary move, two government employees were suspended on Monday in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district for alleged dereliction of duty, officials confirmed.
Udhampur District Election Officer Saloni Rai took decisive action against Kulbushan Kumar and Jaswant Singh, citing neglect of their assigned election responsibilities. An official spokesman detailed that Kumar, serving as the head assistant at the Dudu Zonal Education Office and appointed as a Presiding Officer, failed to attend essential training sessions. His absenteeism, despite multiple communications, seriously hindered election protocols.
Similarly, Jaswant Singh, a primary schoolteacher at Kothi in Chenani and designated as a Booth Level Officer for polling station Narsoo, was suspended for not fulfilling his electoral duties. His responsibilities included managing the electoral roll and assisting voters, tasks which he neglected while also taking unauthorized medical leave. A show-cause notice yielded an unsatisfactory response, leading to his suspension and reassignment to the office of the Chief Education Officer at Udhampur.
