The High Court Bar Association (HCBA) on Monday called for the transfer of an Allahabad High Court judge who initiated criminal contempt proceedings against senior advocate Satish Chandra Mishra.

In a resolution supporting Mishra, the HCBA declared it would send a copy to the Chief Justice of India. The Lucknow bench's order stated that Mishra's conduct could 'scandalise and lower the dignity of the court', prompting the referral to the chief justice.

Anil Tiwari, HCBA president, confirmed an emergency meeting and subsequent letter to the Supreme Court. Despite some advocates boycotting Justice Chandra's court, many continued their work. The UP Bar Council has also called for her transfer and suspension from judicial work.
