Thousands of candidates demonstrated outside the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) office in Ranchi on Monday, demanding the cancellation of recruitment examinations held last week due to alleged malpractices.
The protest started in the morning and continued into the night, with a heavy police presence monitoring the situation.
Students from various parts of the state claimed malpractices in the Jharkhand General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JGGLCCE). The exam, meant for junior-level government posts, was conducted across 823 centers with a state-wide suspension of mobile internet services to prevent cheating.
Following Governor Santosh Gangwar's intervention, JSSC formed a three-member committee to investigate the allegations. Some candidates marched nearly 100 km to participate in the protest. Protesters produced evidence of malpractices, but JSSC dismissed some claims, insisting on original sources of evidence.
JSSC officials met with a delegation of agitating candidates, assuring them that results would be withheld until the investigation concludes.
