In a dramatic turn of events following an ATM heist in Kerala's Thrissur district, a suspect's right lower limb was amputated at a government hospital in Coimbatore. The suspect, identified as Mohammed Azar Ali (30), was part of a seven-member gang from Haryana that carried out the heist.
Ali was shot and apprehended by the police as he attempted to flee with a money bag. His associate, Jamal, the container truck driver, was killed by the police after he assaulted an officer and tried to escape.
The gang was captured in Kumarapalayam following a coordinated effort by Namakkal police, prompted by an alert from their Kerala counterparts. Due to compromised blood supply from the bullet injury, doctors recommended and performed the amputation on Ali.
