The Supreme Court on Monday expressed dissatisfaction over the slow progress by the West Bengal government in installing CCTVs and constructing toilets and separate resting rooms in medical facilities. The government has been directed to complete the ongoing work by October 15.

The apex court was hearing a suo motu case related to the rape and murder of a postgraduate medic at the R G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The court reiterated its earlier order barring intermediaries from publishing the victim's name and photo, following complaints from the victim's parents.

During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the CBI, was asked to provide information on those still employed at R G Kar Hospital who are under investigation for financial irregularities. The top court directed a progress report on the National Task Force and posted the hearing to October 14.
