A Pakistani court on Monday dismissed the bail pleas of former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the Toshakhana 2.0 case. They are accused of misusing power to obtain state gifts, specifically a Bulgari jewellery set, without depositing it in the Toshakhana repository.
Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand announced the decision during a hearing inside Adiala jail, where Khan and Bushra also appeared. The couple is set to be indicted on October 2, as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was barred from pursuing the case, which has now been transferred to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Khan's lawyer argued that the case was similar to a previous reference and should be dismissed following a Supreme Court ruling. However, the court reserved its verdict and later denied bail, leaving the former PM behind bars pending further legal proceedings.
