Delhi Police have apprehended three individuals, including a former Ministry of Petroleum employee, for allegedly duping a man out of Rs 2.39 crore by promising to install a CNG pump on his property, officials stated on Monday.

The fraudsters reportedly deceived the victim under the guise of providing minimal formalities for the CNG pump setup. They managed to accumulate Rs 1.79 crore through dummy bank accounts and Rs 60 lakh in cash, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (IFSO) Hemant Tiwari.

After the complainant reported the fraud in March, the police formed a special team to track the activities of the accused spanning nearly three years. The suspects, who presented fake documents and posed as gas company officials, were traced and arrested. Continuing investigations aim to uncover further links to the gas company and additional conspirators.
