President Droupadi Murmu on Monday stressed that economic growth and social development hinge on the upholding of law and order. Addressing Indian Police Service (IPS) probationers at Rashtrapati Bhavan, she emphasized that progress is meaningless without justice and protection of citizens' rights.
Murmu highlighted the critical issue of crimes against women, calling for exceptional sensitivity and empathy from police officers handling such cases. She urged officers to be tech-savvy, noting that advances in technology benefit policing but also aid criminals.
The president expressed optimism over the rising number of women in the IPS, urging them to positively influence policing culture. She also advised all officers to incorporate yoga and mental well-being practices into their routines, reinforcing the service-oriented ethos of the IPS.
