Israel ramped up its military offensive in Lebanon on Sunday, targeting Hezbollah after killing its leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. This intensified campaign has delivered significant blows to Hezbollah, following a year of cross-border skirmishes that have now escalated dramatically.
In the wake of Nasrallah's death in a massive airstrike in Beirut, Hezbollah retaliated by launching rocket attacks into Israel. Iran has vowed to avenge Nasrallah's death, fueling fears that the conflict could spiral out of control and draw in regional powers, including the United States.
The heightened tensions have already taken a heavy human toll, with more than 1,000 Lebanese killed and 6,000 wounded. A fifth of Lebanon's population has reportedly fled their homes, as Israel considers expanding its offensive. Calls for a diplomatic resolution persist amid ongoing military actions and rising geopolitical risks.
