Israel's Strategy in Northern Conflict: Diplomacy Over All-out War
White House national security spokesperson John Kirby stated that an all-out war with Hezbollah or Iran will not help Israel safely return people to their homes in Northern Israel. The U.S. advises a diplomatic path. Israel continues to target Hezbollah in Lebanon, causing significant casualties and displacement.
White House national security spokesperson John Kirby emphasized on Sunday that an all-out war with Hezbollah or Iran won't enable Israel to safely return displaced people to their homes in Northern Israel.
On the same day, Israel escalated attacks in Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah and claiming the life of the Iran-backed group's leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Israel aims to secure its northern regions from Hezbollah rocket attacks to facilitate the return of displaced residents. Kirby told CNN, 'An all-out war with Hezbollah, certainly with Iran, is not the way to do that. If you want to get those folks back home safely and sustainably, we believe that a diplomatic path is the right course.'
Kirby mentioned the U.S. is monitoring Hezbollah's next moves and is in dialogue with Israel regarding further steps. Lebanon's Health Ministry reports over 1,000 Lebanese fatalities and 6,000 injuries in the last two weeks, with the government stating that a million people, constituting a fifth of the population, have been displaced.
