Taiwan Stays Alert Amid China's Missile Tests
Taiwan's Defence Ministry remains vigilant following the detection of extensive missile launches deep within China's mainland. The island, which Beijing claims as its territory, closely monitors these activities. China's recent intercontinental ballistic missile test has heightened tensions, although China's military defends the drills as legitimate.

Taiwan's Defence Ministry announced heightened vigilance on Sunday after detecting numerous missile launches deep within inland China. This alert follows a successful intercontinental ballistic missile test by Beijing, which considers Taiwan its territory.
Starting from 6:50 a.m. local time, multiple missile firings by China's Rocket Force were detected in Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Qinghai, and Xinjiang provinces, over 2,000 km from Taiwan. Taiwan's air defence forces are on high alert, the ministry confirmed.
China's Defence Ministry did not respond to inquiries outside office hours. Taiwan recently criticized Beijing for increased military activities and live-fire drills around the island, which China claims are legitimate. Tensions remain high following Beijing's missile launches into Taiwanese waters in August 2022, during war games provoked by a high-profile U.S. visit to Taipei.
