Jaipur Police has officially registered an FIR in response to an interview involving the infamous gangster, Lawrence Bishnoi, which aired on a news channel last March. The registration followed directives from the high court of Punjab and Haryana, as confirmed by Jaipur police commissioner Biju George Joseph.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) from Punjab discovered that Bishnoi was in the Jaipur jail at the time of the interview. This revelation was pivotal as the SIT submitted its status report to the high court, emphasizing Jaipur's jurisdiction over the case. Consequently, the high court ordered the case's registration in Jaipur.

The FIR was filed at Jaipur's Lalkothi police station, under whose jurisdiction the central jail falls. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Gandhi Nagar) Narayan Kumar Bajiya indicated the case would be further investigated based on emerging facts. Notably, Bishnoi was shifted from Bathinda jail to Jaipur on a production warrant for interrogation last February, and after his interview aired, discrepancies about his location were brought to light.
