Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy has openly accused ADGP of Lokayukta, M Chandra Sekhar, who heads the SIT probing the 2007 mining lease case, of being a 'blackmailer' and 'criminal'.
Kumaraswamy claimed he knows the origins of a controversial letter authored by Sekhar, promising to expose it in due time. In the letter, Sekhar alleged that Kumaraswamy, an accused in a related crime, made false and malicious threats against SIT officers to intimidate them.
The case concerns allegations that Kumaraswamy illegally approved a 550-acre mining lease during his tenure as Chief Minister. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has chosen not to comment on the ongoing conflict, further stirring political tensions.
