Electricity Sub-Station Worker Arrested for Bribery in Uttar Pradesh

An electricity sub-station contract worker in Uttar Pradesh, Madhav Tiwari, was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a shopkeeper, Bhupendra Singh. Tiwari threatened Singh with false accusations of electricity theft. An ACO team subsequently captured Tiwari accepting the bribe.

The Anti-Corruption Organization (ACO) of the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested an electricity sub-station contract worker for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000, officials reported.

The accused, Madhav Tiwari, stationed at Datia sub-station in Govardhan, targeted shopkeeper Bhupendra Singh by showing him a misleading video and threatening charges of electricity theft. Singh, after discerning the video pertained to a Wi-Fi connection cable, reported the incident to ACO officers.

The ACO team set up a trap and caught Tiwari accepting the bribe. Tiwari now faces legal proceedings under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Simultaneously, the Electricity Department initiated a departmental inquiry.
