A Left-backed MLA, P V Anvar, has been booked for allegedly tapping phone calls of senior officials, and making serious allegations against IPS officers and the CMO in Kerala. The case against the Nilambur MLA was filed on Saturday at Karukachal police station following a complaint by social activist Thomas K Peeliyanikkal.
Registered under section 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the case claims Anvar hacked into the telecommunication system and illegally intercepted calls, jeopardizing public safety and spreading misinformation through media. It alleges that his actions were intended to provoke public discontent and create hatred.
Anvar, who recently brought various allegations against ADGP (Law and Order) M R Ajithkumar and other police officials, also released a phone conversation between himself and Pathanamthitta SP, Sujith Das. Das was subsequently suspended for purportedly revealing internal police issues in this conversation. Anvar continues to target the police department for their supposed inaction against Das' alleged illegal activities during his tenure in Malappuram district.
