Indian Diplomat and Spouse Accused of Rs 64 Lakh Fraud
An Indian Foreign Service officer, Niharika Singh, and her husband, Ajit Gupta, are accused of defrauding Dr. Mridula Agarwal of Rs 64 lakh. They allegedly convinced her to invest in their company promising high returns, which ceased after February 2020. An FIR has been lodged under IPC sections 406 and 420.

An Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer and her spouse have been accused of defrauding a doctor of over Rs 64 lakh, claiming investment opportunities, police revealed on Friday.
Following a court order, the Gomti Nagar police lodged an FIR on Thursday against the IFS officer Niharika Singh, her husband Ajit Gupta, and their affiliated companies. Dr. Mridula Agarwal, a 54-year-old resident of Gomti Nagar, filed the complaint alleging fraud to the tune of Rs 64,63,250.
The alleged scam started in 2016, and despite initial returns, payments stopped in February 2020. The FIR includes charges under IPC sections 406 and 420. Singh, currently stationed in Indonesia, could not be contacted for comments.
