The Supreme Court has taken a strong stance against the Commission for Air Quality Management, criticizing its inadequate measures to tackle air pollution resulting from crop residue burning.

A bench led by Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Augustine George Masih emphasized the necessity for the air quality panel to adopt a more proactive and effective approach.

The court also highlighted the need for implementing stubble-burning alternative equipment at the grassroots level and directed the panel to submit a more comprehensive compliance report.
