Two persons have been arrested in Siliguri, West Bengal, for allegedly threatening and heckling two CISF job aspirants hailing from Bihar, according to police reports on Friday.
The incident has ignited a political controversy, with NDA leaders in Bihar condemning the event and insisting on immediate action. The TMC, in contrast, stated that West Bengal upholds the democratic rights of all citizens and rejects any form of harassment.
The accused, identified as Rajat Bhattacharya and Giridhari Roy, were detained Thursday night, Siliguri Police Commissionerate revealed. The situation escalated after a video, showing the aspirants being questioned about their documents, went viral, leading to widespread criticism and demands for security assurances from Bihar authorities.
