Australia and Britain announced plans to negotiate a bilateral treaty to produce a new class of nuclear-powered submarines under the AUKUS partnership, which includes the United States. The collaboration aims to enhance industrial cooperation and technology transfer between the nations.

Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles stated that the treaty will facilitate the joint operation of submarines and ensure smooth industrial and technological cooperation. Britain's Defence Secretary John Healey confirmed the agreement to use British-made Stingray torpedoes in P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft for submarine-hunting in the Indo Pacific.

U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin mentioned that AUKUS partners have conducted extensive experiments to boost warfighting capabilities. The alliance is also working on hypersonic technologies and plans to conduct a large-scale drone exercise later this year.
