Pakistan Signs Deal to Sell JF-17 Block III Jets to Azerbaijan
Pakistan has signed a contract to sell JF-17 Block III fighter jets to Azerbaijan. The deal is part of Pakistan's efforts to enhance defense cooperation and bolster Azerbaijan's air power. The JF-17 Block III, co-produced with China, offers a wide array of combat capabilities.
Pakistan's military announced on Thursday that the nation has signed a contract to sell JF-17 Block III fighter jets to Azerbaijan. The jets are co-produced by the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and developed in collaboration with China, marking a shift as ties with the United States have weakened.
While the military did not disclose the cost or quantity of jets, it emphasized that the sale aims to strengthen defense cooperation and boost Azerbaijan's air power capabilities. Pakistan is also aligned with Turkey, which supported Azerbaijan during its recent conflict with Armenia.
Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev visited Pakistan in July, where both nations agreed to extend cooperation in various fields, including defense. Following the visit, Pakistan showcased the aircraft at a defense exhibition in Baku with an air force contingent.
The JF-17 Block III is designed for a wide range of combat missions, enhancing contemporary airpower capabilities, stated the military.
