The Karnataka Cabinet has directed Chief Secretary and other secretaries that any correspondence from the government to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot should only be sent after Cabinet approval.
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil stated the Cabinet has decided that any communication with the Governor will require prior consent from the Cabinet. This decision comes after the Governor sent multiple letters to the government seeking immediate information, alleging impatience on the Governor's part.
An inquiry was initiated after the Governor questioned the leakage of confidential materials between Raj Bhavan and Lokayukta. According to the inquiry, the documents resided at Raj Bhavan for ten months in violation of the Prevention of Corruption Act. An investigation aims to identify the source of the leak.
