The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) on Thursday called for the Delhi University administration and the Delhi Police to guarantee a fair and transparent conduct of the upcoming student union elections.
Voting for the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) is scheduled for Friday. During a press conference, NSUI president Varun Choudhary alleged that individuals linked to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have been appointed as electoral officers.
'Individuals previously associated with the ABVP are now serving as election commissioners that can influence the election results,' Choudhary claimed. He insisted that proctors with RSS associations be barred from election duty to maintain the election's integrity. Despite these concerns, the Congress-backed organization expressed optimism about winning this year's elections, citing their vision to address key student issues such as fee hikes, infrastructure deficits, and women's safety.
