Escalating Conflict: Israel and Hezbollah's Relentless Battle
Israel has rejected ceasefire proposals with Hezbollah and conducted a military exercise near Lebanon, raising fears of a regional war. The conflict has displaced thousands and intensified airstrikes, with international leaders urging for a ceasefire. Hezbollah continues missile attacks as evacuations and aid distribution take place.
Israel dismissed ceasefire proposals on Thursday and conducted a military exercise simulating maneuvers in Lebanon, despite calls from allies, including the United States, for an immediate end to fighting. The exercise took place a few kilometers from the Lebanese border, amid relentless pressure on Iran-backed Hezbollah, involving intense airstrikes and high-profile assassinations.
Foreign Minister Israel Katz confirmed the continuation of military operations against Hezbollah, dashing hopes for a quick resolution. Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands have fled their homes amid the heaviest bombardment since the 2006 war, leading to heightened international concerns.
World leaders advocate for a 21-day ceasefire, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has yet to respond. As more than 600 fatalities have been reported since Monday, the military continues to target Hezbollah strongholds, with mounting efforts to ensure border security and return displaced Israeli citizens to their homes.
