Mizoram Home Minister K Sapdanga revealed on Thursday that drugs valued at Rs 160 crore have been confiscated in the state from January to August this year.

During a visit to the office of the superintendent of police in Champhai, he interacted with officers and praised their efforts. 'Law enforcement agencies have successfully seized drugs, primarily heroin, worth Rs 160 crore,' Sapdanga announced.

He disclosed that 355 individuals have been apprehended on drug-related charges. The minister highlighted the state government's vigorous action against drug trafficking and contraband smuggling from neighboring regions.

Sapdanga commended the police for their significant role in tackling these issues and urged them to continue safeguarding the state. Additionally, he attended a meeting with Mizo Zirlai Pawl, the state's primary student body, and stressed the importance of remaining drug-free and focusing on education.
