President Joe Biden is set to sign an executive order aimed at mitigating the traumatic impact of active shooter drills in schools and curbing the accessibility of advanced gun technologies. The new directive will also impose restrictions on devices that convert firearms into fully automatic weapons.

Biden, 81, has made gun violence prevention a top priority for his administration, citing numerous personal encounters with victims and crime scenes. His efforts include an attempt to ban assault weapons and a legislative push for enhanced gun control measures.

A Rose Garden event will feature speeches by both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, focusing on the persistent problem of gun violence. Meanwhile, a newly established task force will deliver a report in 90 days on machine-gun-conversion devices and 3D-printed firearms, which evade law enforcement tracking.
