Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) of India, is on a four-day official visit to Greece from 26th to 29th September 2024, as part of ongoing efforts to bolster bilateral defence relations, particularly in the domain of naval cooperation.

During his visit, Admiral Tripathi will engage in high-level discussions with senior Greek defence officials, including Mr Ioannis Kefalogiannis, Deputy Minister of Defence, Vice Admiral Dimitrios E. Kataras, Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff (HGNS), and Vice Admiral Christos Sasiakos, Deputy Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff. These discussions will focus on maritime security, joint training, and exploring opportunities for future operational collaboration between the two nations' navies.

Admiral Tripathi is set to visit Salamis Bay, home to the Hellenic Naval Fleet, as well as the Hellenic Naval Academy, where he will gain insights into Greece’s naval capabilities and training methodologies. Additionally, he will be hosted onboard Georgios AVEROF, Greece's famed naval museum ship, providing him with a glimpse of the country's rich maritime history and naval heritage.

This visit highlights the strong naval relations between India and Greece, which have seen joint exercises, port visits, and capacity-building initiatives. Admiral Tripathi’s engagements are expected to further strengthen the bonds of cooperation between the two navies, ensuring greater collaboration in areas of shared strategic interest.
