The Supreme Court has mandated the reservation of the treasurer post in the Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) for women members, alongside another post among the five office bearers.

A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant, Dipankar Datta, and Ujjal Bhuyan suggested that the DHCBA general body consider reserving three executive committee seats for women, including one for a senior designated woman advocate.

DHCBA President Mohit Mathur was asked to encourage district court bar bodies to adopt similar provisions. The court stressed that these reservations, seen as a progressive step, would enhance the prudent use of association funds. Despite Mathur's contention that sufficient women already serve on the executive committee, the court emphasized the necessity of formal reservations.
