A bench consisting of Justices B V Nagarathna and N Kotiswar Singh confirmed that the Act strengthens the protection of women's rights as guaranteed under the Constitution.
The ruling arose from an appeal challenging a Karnataka High Court order related to maintenance and compensation, affirming the Act's broad and inclusive applicability.
