In a major relief to Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday quashed an FIR against him in the Sanjivani Credit Cooperative Society case.
The high court delivered its order after the Special Operations Group (SOG) submitted a detailed report confirming no incriminating evidence against Shekhawat.
Justice Arun Monga's Single Bench noted the lack of evidence, making the petition against Shekhawat redundant. Shekhawat's counsel, Aditya Vikram Singh, highlighted that Shekhawat was neither named in the FIR nor in any charge sheets, nor considered a suspect.
On September 17, the high court had asked the SOG if it intended to file a charge sheet against Shekhawat. The SOG's detailed report provided assurance, stating Shekhawat's non-involvement post his resignation as the director of the implicated companies.
The court further ruled that the SOG cannot proceed with any investigations against Shekhawat without trial court permission. Shekhawat celebrated the judgment as a 'victory of truth,' alleging political motives behind the accusations.
