Assam BJP Leader Arrested in Multi-Crore Fraud Case

In a sensational revelation, Assam BJP's SC Morcha secretary Ashim Kumar Das has been arrested for allegedly defrauding companies of nearly Rs 8 crore through fake government work orders, according to the police on Wednesday.

Guwahati Police Commissioner Diganta Barah expressed concerns that this modus operandi might have victimized numerous businessmen, details of which will surface as the investigation proceeds.

Besides Das, two accomplices, identified as Birinchi Borkotoki and Niranjan Das, have also been apprehended. Another key player, Deba Prakash Bhagawati, was previously arrested by the CID in a separate fraud case. Authorities are thoroughly scrutinizing bank transactions and seized documents as part of the ongoing probe.
