The CBI has claimed that some records related to the brutal rape and murder of a post-graduate medical trainee at RG Kar Medical College were falsified and altered at the Tala Police Station in Kolkata.

The central agency informed a special court that CCTV footage from the police station has been seized and sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Kolkata for examination.

During the investigation, the CBI interrogated Tala Police Station's officer-in-charge, Abhijit Mondal, and the medical college's former principal, Sandip Ghosh, revealing that false records were created and altered. Both officials have been sent to judicial custody until September 30.

The agency previously arrested Mondal on September 14 and took Ghosh into custody in connection with the case. Prime suspect Sanjay Roy was arrested on August 10, the day after the incident. The CBI claims an unnecessary delay occurred in seizing evidence.

The trainee doctor was allegedly raped and murdered on August 9 while resting during her shift. Her body was discovered with severe injuries. The investigation, now under the CBI, seeks to determine the extent of the criminal conspiracy.
