Norwegian authorities confirmed the detention of a German national of Cameroonian descent on Wednesday, suspecting his involvement in crimes against humanity in conflict-ridden Cameroon.
This marks Norway's first attempt at prosecuting such offenses. The man, aged in his 50s, resides in Norway and remains unnamed.
KRIPOS, Norway's National Criminal Investigation Service, asserts he had a pivotal role in the persistent armed conflict in Cameroon, primarily rooted in the Anglophone crisis. The conflict has resulted in over 6,000 deaths and displaced approximately 760,000 people.
