The CBI has uncovered evidence suggesting that records in the rape and murder case of a post-graduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College were tampered with at the Tala police station in Kolkata.

Officials have pointed out that CCTV footage from the police station has been seized and sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) for further analysis. The investigative agency has interrogated Tala Police Station officer Abhijit Mondal and former principal of the medical college, Sandip Ghosh, bringing new revelations to light.

The CBI had already arrested Mondal and Ghosh, with Ghosh being taken into custody following a court order related to another corruption case. Prime suspect Sanjay Roy was arrested the day after the incident. The CBI alleges there was an unnecessary two-day delay in seizing crucial evidence, raising suspicions of a criminal conspiracy between Roy, Ghosh, and Mondal.
