The Uttar Pradesh government has taken stringent measures to combat recent cases of food adulteration reported across the state. In a high-level meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered mandatory name and address displays of food centre operators, proprietors, and managers.
Staff, including chefs and waiters, are now required to wear masks and gloves, and the installation of CCTV cameras in all hotels and restaurants is compulsory. The new regulations aim to ensure the purity and safety of food, following several incidents where human waste was found in food items.
These measures come after viral videos and arrests concerning adulterated food items in various districts, prompting a thorough investigation and verification of all food establishments across the state. The opposition, however, criticizes the move, alleging discrimination against certain communities.
