Supreme Court Collegium Recommends New Chief Justice for Uttarakhand and Appointments in Patna and Bombay High Courts

The Supreme Court collegium, under the leadership of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, has put forward a recommendation for the appointment of Justice Narendar G, currently serving at the Andhra Pradesh High Court, as the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court.
This decision comes as a vacancy is anticipated in the office of the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court following the retirement of Justice Ritu Bahri on October 10, 2024. The collegium, which includes Justices Sanjiv Khanna and B R Gavai, emphasized the necessity of filling this position promptly.
Justice Narendar G, who has extensive judicial experience and a distinguished career in the high courts of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, is seen as an ideal candidate for the Chief Justice post. Along with this recommendation, the collegium has also proposed the appointments of judicial officers Shashi Bhushan Prasad Singh and Ashok Kumar Pandey to the Patna High Court, and nine advocates to the Bombay High Court.
